Harrysmuir Pupil Council meetings are held at lunchtime on the last Wednesday of each month. Each class from P1-7 has elected a class representative. Representatives for the school year 2018-2019 are:
Representatives bring any concerns or suggestions along to the meeting and discuss these with other members. Mr Blackwood and Miss Docherty facilitate the meetings and encourage children to express their views clearly. We then share these with Mrs Mackenzie and discuss how ideas and suggestions can be taken forward within the school. Over the past year we have been given new mirrors for the toilets and a wide variety of benches for the playground. This year we will also be working alongside the eco committee to continue to promote recycling throughout all school areas.
The Eco Committee look at and discuss global and eco issues, as well as identifying areas for improvement within the school in regards to the gardens, playground and eco-issues. It is run by Mrs Carder. The children learn about Global Citizenship, Fairtrade, Eco and gardening. Children have lots of fun working and campaigning as a team and letting the whole school know what we are doing on our noticeboard and by going round and talking to all the classes. Each class has a representative.
The Digital Leaders meet weekly during a lunch time to learn new skills and develop their knowledge about digital issues. They are a group of children from P5-7.
